Upside-Down Caramel Pear Cake Ingredients

adapted from Better Homes & Gardens, Fall Recipes edition

  • 8 oz/1 cup/2 sticks of vegan butter, divided

    • Of course, use dairy butter if that's what you have on hand. I like Miyoko's for this recipe!

  • 2/3 c + 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar

  • 5 small Asian Pears, peeled, halved, and cored

  • 2 eggs, room temperature

  • 1/2 c maple syrup

  • 3/4 c warm water

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 c/10 oz all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
