Community Soil Science Cooperative:
A collaboration between Sankara Farm,
Antioch Urban Growers, Tracy Garden,
and KC Farm School at Gibbs Road

Building on traditional, indigenous, ecological knowledge to increase soil health, plant vitality, and nutrient density using Johnson-Su bioreactor composting systems and funded through a USDA Sustainable Ag Research and Education (SARE) grant, Community Soil Science Cooperative is building Johnson-Su bioreactors across the metro and we are measuring germination rate, vegetative growth rate, nutrient density, and yield of plants exposed to the JSu compost against those that are not.

We have recently formed a partnership with The Land Institute to bring their perennial wheatgrass, Kernza, to Kansas City growers.
